Estate Planning & FAQs

Free Financial Organizer

Other Resources

Our firm practices in all areas of legal estate planning. This web site was designed to save you time and money by walking you through the basics of estate planning and the associated tax issues. It is organized by how the information is presented and then by estate planning topic.

Start with our Frequently Asked Estate Planning Questions (FAQs) to familiarize yourself with basic concepts and current tax and probate laws. If you have a little more time, lean back and enjoy our on-line slide presentations. Full color slides and accompanying text will introduce you to important issues with real life examples.

Please keep in mind as you go through the site that it is designed for all states in USA and that in most states, probate should be avoided.  That is not always the case in Texas where with a valid Texas Will, probate is typically very easy, quick, and inexpensive.

Any estate-tax saving estate plan in a living trust can be in a Will. It is not the trust that saves estate taxes, but the "estate plan" therein.

In an effort to keep you up-to-date with current issues, we also provide an Articles area. For more detailed information about your specific situation, please contact us.

Attorney Richard W. Chote is licensed by the Supreme Court of the State of Texas to practice law in all courts of the state of Texas, the United States District Court for the Southern District of Texas, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit. He holds the Accredited Estate Planner designation from the National Association of Estate Planners.

Our office is located at the southwest corner of MoPac (Loop 1) & RM 2222 (3305 Northland Drive) in the building with the red CPA sign on top.  Suite 500 is on the top floor, and parking is free and plentiful adjacent to the building on all 4 sides.
